Having owned and operated restaurants since 1974, Ryan Condon and Dan Doyle were very aware of the many talented individuals in this business that had a dream to own their own restaurant. It was in 1999 that they were first able to create an opportunity to assist a long-time friend in realizing his dream. That friend was Ron Hill and the opportunity was an old gas station on Folly Beach. It did not take long for the three of them to determine what Folly Beach needed was a restaurant with a laid back and relaxed coastal atmosphere that integrates great value with overflowing buckets of fresh seafood and smiling faces in a fun hole in the wall joint. It was that moment that the Crab Shack was born. The opportunity to realize their lifelong dreams was presented to another couple of very deserving friends soon after. Both David Dean, of Coosaw Creek Crab Shack and Steven Jones, of West Ashley Crab Shack, felt the same way as Ron and joined our growing family.
Ron sums up the results of our initial efforts very eloquently. "As I look back over the many years, we have been blessed with more than we could have ever imagined or dreamed." What we did not envision were the many blessings that were going to come our way. From all the locals that we have had the honor to serve and become friends with, to the people that God blessed us with to help carry out this task. Over the years, we have been blessed with the most incredible group of team members. There are now way too many to name, but each one has played a very important role in the successes that this restaurant has seen. We could never thank them enough, because without them, we would not have been able to turn a "hole in the wall" place into one that is filled with passion, love and the very will that everyone that comes through that door should feel like family!"
Not only have we been blessed with wonderful team members to help fulfill our dreams, we have also been blessed with the locals, who are truly the other side of this success story. They have played a very important role in our dream by supporting our Crab Shack family. Words cannot express how thankful and grateful we are to have such support. We wish for one minute, that each and every one could go inside our hearts and feel the love that we have for all of you. Thank you again, if you are one of the team members present or past, or one of the locals that have helped our dream come true. In the years to come it is our passion and desire to share these experiences and to serve as many guests and team members as possible.
